I’m Alisa, and I’m so pleased you’re here.
Life In Loss is a labour of love — a concept that has grown with me since my first experience of loss at age five, when my Nanna, Lillian, passed away.
Even as a child, I could sense that everything had changed, and that deep sadness filled the spaces she once occupied. Those early memories planted the seed for my lifelong curiosity about how we live with loss, and how connection helps us heal.
Over the years, and through my own experiences of losing a parent and sibling, I’ve come to understand how profoundly loss reshapes us — and how important it is to have support when life changes suddenly or deeply.
I’m a born-and-bred West Australian, living in the beautiful city of Perth, where I also hold a role as carer for a much loved member of family.
Before becoming a Social Worker, I spent 12 years in the funeral industry as an Arranger, Mortuary Assistant, and After-Hours Manager.
That experience taught me how disorienting and raw loss can be, and how small acts of care can make an immense difference.
Since graduating in 2006, I’ve worked across Western Australia in child protection, suicide bereavement, disability support, and organisational wellbeing.
I established the first suicide bereavement (postvention) service in the East Kimberley — a practice area that continues to shape my work today.
Since 2021, I’ve focused mainly on critical incident response, employee assistance (EAP), and wellbeing — supporting people through life after loss, change, or crisis.
These experiences have led me to create Life In Loss, a private practice grounded in the belief that through connection, we rediscover our own strength and safe places.
I’d love to connect and share more — please feel free to call for a chat.
And don’t forget to meet Mr T — he’s a smile merchant!
